The Piccolo sailboat has a raft of design and material features that make it easy for clubs, schools and individuals to learn to sail.
- Nominal Length - 3 metres. Full sail area - 5 square metres.
- Ideal training sailboat for all ages.
- One or two seven year olds can learn in these with a small sail.
- One or two teenagers can learn and still find them fast and exciting with the full sail.
- The sailboats are unsinkable and will support boat and crew even if the plastic is punctured.
- The boats are self draining. When youngsters, or older people, capsize they pull the boats back upright and sail off at speed without any bailing.
- They are made of tough polyethylene with a rigid foam inner layer so that the hull is about 12mm thick and will take a thrashing that would smash a wooden or fibreglass boat.
- They never need painting. Any other maintenance depends on how they are treated.
- They have the minimum number of loose parts.
- They are quicker than other boats to rig and get sailing.
- They have robust gear suitable for use by schools and yacht clubs for teaching beginners.
- They are long enough not to have nose diving problems which other small boats have.
- They are easy to launch and retrieve with the custom beach trolley.
- A trailer or trailer plans can be supplied to carry 4 boats with all sailing gear.
- A shed (10sqm) or plans can be supplied to house 6 boats with all gear.
